About this Position
The position works with a high degree of creativity and initiative to provide programmatic services and support to students, employees, and visitors on a variety of administrative tasks and processes critical to the successful operation of the program unit within the CREES department and the general Northern Marianas College system.
Minimum Qualifications
- Program Coordinator II:

- Associate’s degree from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited institution plus Thirty (30) college credits towards a bachelor’s degree and Two (2) years’ experience working in project coordination, office management, administrative work, data analysis, budgeting, and working with students & student data, or related field.
- Program Coordinator III:
-
- Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited and Four (4) years’ experience working in project coordination, office management, administrative work, data analysis, budgeting, and working with students & student data, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with administrative tasks in a federally-funded program;
- Experience working in multicultural and/or multilingual settings;
- Enthusiasm about issues in food, agriculture, natural resources and human sciences;
- Ability to communicate with diverse audiences from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds;
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with other individuals while exercising initiative, diplomacy, tact, creativity and balance;
- Experience working with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate professionalism and quality customer service;
- Capable of handling multiple tasks while maintaining composure under stressful conditions;
- Experience working with underrepresented community learners from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds;
- Excellent organization and coordination skills;
- Strong writing skills in professional and/or standard English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the core values of CREES through everyday action to maintain a collaborative and transparent workplace culture.
- Lead the effort of writing and submitting the NEXTGEN annual report.
- Communicate with community stakeholders about educational assistance and/or scholarship opportunities funded by the NEXTGEN grant.
- Announce and collect educational assistance and/or scholarship applications for double-blind review process.
- Facilitate experiential learning activities, including student field trips, MANRRS-NMC education and outreach events, internship recruitment and other events that serve the core mission and goals of the NextGen program.
- Participate in and arrange NEXTGEN project and activity evaluation processes, including data collection from project stakeholders.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for NEXTGEN trips based on CREES and NMC procedures and policies.
- Coordinate with the marketing, finance and other relevant NMC units and departments on the overall development and refinement of the NEXTGEN project.
- Design and develop presentation materials for outreach events about the NEXTGEN program activities.
- Provide information and assistance to the project director and co-project director in budget matters relating to the procurement of materials and supplies.
- Participates in Program Review and Outcomes Assessment (PROA) activities as guided by NMC PROAC for the NEXTGEN project.
- Assist in monitoring the accurate reporting of financial matters related to the NEXTGEN program activities.
- Collaborate with project director and co-project director to produce publication and advertising materials for NEXTGEN.
- Provide supervision of work-study students for the NEXTGEN project.
- Communicate about critical and complex inquiries concerning policy, process and procedure from internal and external contacts.
- Coordinate routine and non-routine events and meetings for community partnership development
- Develop, distribute and manage meeting and event notes, correspondence and/or reports, such as presentation, student activity reports, and statistical analysis brief.
- Participate in community outreach activities to serve the core interests of the NMCNEXTGEN unit.
- Identify and design new programs initiatives related to the core interests of the NEXTGEN project and NMC to reach community resilience through food and agriculture.
- Provide recommendations on the continuous improvement of the NEXTGEN project implementation process.
- Develop collaborative work relationships with the local CNMI K-12 educational institutions to fulfill the food and agriculture career and workforce development missions of the NEXTGEN project.
- Maintain a good working relationship with department personnel and other College employees
- Apply appropriate computer and technology skills to fulfill the activity goals.
- Provides effective communication, etiquette and efficient service attitudes and skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions of the Position
Must be able to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The individual in this position will frequently communicate with students and their colleague(s) in order to exchange information in various situations. Occasionally lifts office products and supplies, weighing up to 15 Ibs.The employee may be tasked to work outdoors in the sun and heat, on or around wet surfaces, and other areas exposed to the elements.
