The Saipan C.A.N.O.E - Pre-Health Academy is a four-week statewide intensive program designed to provide skills and resources to help students excel in academia and later graduate from a health professions program.
Graduating high school seniors considering transferring to University of Hawaii who are interested in health careers coming from an economically disadvantaged background, first generation college student, or underrepresented minority group, are encouraged to apply.
Curriculum Overview:
• 3 College Credit in collaboration with University of Hawaii West O'ahu
• Asynchronous online modules focused in college and career success
• One week in-person program for hands-on demos & experience
• Problem Based Learning (PBL) demo
• Certifications in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CPR-First Aid, and Stop-The-Bleed
• Pre-Health advising
• Networking opportunities
• Oral Health Education (curriculum sponsored by the American Dental Education Association)
Applicants must:
• Be a graduating high school senior (Class of 2026)
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
• Submit most recent transcript (unofficial accepted)
• Provide an updated resume
• Submit letter of recommendation (from a science/health teacher or school counselor)
• Submit a personal statement (250 - 500 words).
• There is NO admissions fee or tuition to enroll
• $200 STIPEND upon the successful completion of the program (A valid Social Security number is required to receive the stipend and must be submitted via email to ahec@marianas.edu after program acceptance).
• The program is limited to 20 students.
• Due to the competitive nature of the program, GPA, personal statement, and letter of recommendations will be highly weighed as part of the selection process.
