The AHEC Scholars Program is designed for students in health-related professions who are committed to serving underserved communities. The program aims to enhance clinical education and prepare students for working in rural or underserved settings by offering interdisciplinary training and real-world experience.
AHEC Scholars participate in a combination of didactic and community-based, experiential learning, covering topics such as cultural competency, behavioral health integration, social determinants of health, interprofessional education, practice transformation, and current and emerging health issues.
• Students must be enrolled in a healthcare degree or certificate program at NMC, including:
1) Nursing
2) Nursing Assistant
3) Community Health Worker
• Be in good academic standing.
• Laptop & Textbook Loans – Get the tools you need for success.
• Professional Development – Build skills and experience for a healthcare career.
• Certificate of Completion – Show off your achievement.
• Graduation Sash – Celebrate your success in style.
• Eligible students may receive a stipend after completing required program activities.
• Stipend amounts are subject to funding availability.
