AHEC's Annual Teen Health Summer Program is an immersive, career-exploration experience designed to inspire high school students to discover the wide range of opportunities within the healthcare field. Through dynamic, hands-on activities, interactive workshops, and real-world exposure, students gain a deeper understanding of health professions and the pathways that lead to them.
Participants will explore careers in medicine, nursing, public health, allied health, and other healthcare-related fields while building foundational skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. The program creates a fun, supportive, and engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and informed decision-making—empowering teens to envision themselves as future healthcare professionals serving their communities.
Exposure to careers in nursing, medicine, public health and other allied health through guided discussions and career panels.
Interactive workshops and skill-building activities, including basic CPR training, casting, and suturing demonstrations.
Practice real-life healthcare scenarios using simulation mannequins at the NMC Health Simulation Center.
