Northern Marianas College kinesiology students Kyla Macabanti, Eden Mendiola, Sha Aina Mendoza and Friendly Joy Pena recently earned their coaching certification through the American Sport Education Program (ASEP).

The certification equips students with the knowledge and skills to provide a positive, safe and effective sporting environment for CNMI athletes.

“This initiative reflects a shared commitment between NMC and PSS to promote high standards in youth athletics, focusing on athlete development, sportsmanship and safety,” NMC health and physical education assistant professor Denise Myers said. “By investing in coach education, the partnership supports not only the performance of school teams but also the overall wellness of our community. Congratulations to all the coaches for their hard work and dedication.”

The American Sport Education Program is a leading provider of sport education programs in the United States, focusing on youth, high school and elite-level sport. ASEP offers educational courses designed for coaches, officials, sport administrators, parents and athletes, aiming to make sports safe, successful and enjoyable. Over 1.5 million individuals have been educated through ASEP programs, which are developed in partnership with national, state and local sport organizations.
