Title IV (Pell, TEACH, FWS and FSEOG) and other scholarship information
When do I apply for Pell?
As early as Oct. 1 of each year for the following school year. For example, a student wants to begin their college journey in the Fall 2026 term. The student could submit their 2026-2027 FAFSA as early as Oct. 1, 2025.Do I need to submit a FAFSA every semester?
No. The FAFSA is an annual application. The Pell grant is awarded in the following order: Fall, Spring and Summer. Why am I not getting the full Pell grant?
Pell is awarded based on the required courses a student is enrolled in. If you are enrolled in courses that are not part of your degree audit (plan or IDP), you will not receive Pell for them.I am not eligible for Pell due to my household income. My circumstances have changed. Can I request a review?
Yes. Please visit the Financial Aid Office to speak to a representative.Do I need to be a full-time student to receive the Pell grant?
No, you do not need to be a full-time student to be awarded the Pell grant. Your Pell grant is based on your enrollment status and how many credits you are registered for.Do I need to be a full-time student to receive other scholarships?
It depends. Most state, local and private scholarships require full-time enrollment, but please check with the respective scholarship offices regarding enrollment.Where can I find my award letter?
You can find your award letter in your Portal+ account, on the left-hand side under Financial Information and then Financial Aid. There are links to the different areas of your financial aid. What does Pell LEU mean?
The Pell Lifetime Eligibility Use (LEU) means there is a limit to receiving the Pell grant. A student is eligible to receive up to 600% or up to their 1st Bachelor's degree, whichever comes first. For example, if a student receives the maximum Pell for a full-time status term, their Pell use is 50%.Refunds
When will I receive my refund?
Students will receive their refund after their tuition and fees are paid. Why are my Pell and TEACH awards disbursed in 4 different installments?
Pell and TEACH are requested at 4 different dates during the term. A quarter (1/4) of the awards is requested at each date. For example, if a student is eligible for $2,000 for the term, $500 will be requested at each date such as Jan. 30, Feb. 20, Mar. 20, and Apr. 20. The reason for this distribution is to avoid any liability to the college and to ensure students get the correct award throughout the term without having to pay back should they completely withdraw.Satisfactory Academic Progress
What does SAP max time frame mean?
SAP max time frame means a student has reached 150% of the credits allowed to complete their degree program. How do I appeal my SAP max timeframe status?
To receive Pell for the term, you will need to provide a written statement addressed to the Financial Aid Office that includes: what required credits you still need to take (include your term courses), when you plan to take them (include your current term), and when you plan to graduate. If a student needs more than a year to complete their degree program, an appeal for the next school year will be required. The decision made by the FAO is final and students cannot appeal further to the US Dept. of Education. How do I appeal my SAP Unsatisfactory status?
You will need to submit a written appeal addressed to the Financial Aid SAP Committee explaining why you failed the term affected. Please explain in brief detail and provide evidence to strengthen your appeal. Your appeal will be reviewed and if additional information is needed, an FAO staff member will request it. A decision will be provided in a timely manner (about 5 business days). The decision made by the FA SAP Committee is final and students cannot appeal further to the US Dept. of Education. Note: Students with a pending SAP appeal are not dropped for non-payment of tuition and/or fees. It is the student's responsibility to make payment arrangements with the Finance Office.Summer Information
Is Summer covered?
You may receive Pell for the Summer term as long as you enroll in required classes to complete your degree. Please note that your Pell LEU will be reduced based on your enrollment.Other Information
